What You Can Expect

I believe there is no one right way to do counseling. Every person is different, and what works for one person may not work for another. I want to get to know you as a person and tailor counseling to what you need.

I want counseling to be a place where you feel comfortable being yourself. You should not feel like you have to hide parts of who you are, filter what you want to say, or have all the right words. I believe people can tell when someone genuinely cares about them, and I want my clients to know that I genuinely care about understanding them and their story.

I believe there are many ways to connect and communicate in counseling. Sometimes that means talking, while other times it may look like drawing, playing a game, sitting quietly, or doing an activity together. Especially with children and teens, creativity, laughter, and play can be meaningful ways to build connection and express things that may be difficult to put into words.

Counseling is also about understanding what you are going through and finding ways to move forward. Sometimes that means looking at things from a different perspective, learning new skills, or simply having a safe place to work through what you are feeling. My hope is that you begin to better understand yourself, recognize your strengths and choices, and feel more confident in your ability to handle life's challenges.

Play therapy counseling for children, using creativity and play to express emotions and build coping skills

Children do not always have the words to explain what they are feeling. Play is the language of children, giving them another way to communicate, express emotions, and work through experiences that may be difficult to put into words. Sometimes, toys, creativity, and play become a child’s way of expressing what they are thinking and feeling.

Through play-based interventions, creativity, and connection, counseling provides children with a safe space to explore their emotions, build confidence, develop healthy coping skills, and work through challenges in an age-appropriate way. Play can also help children practice communication, problem-solving, and emotional regulation while building a trusting relationship with their counselor.

Parent involvement is an important part of the counseling process. Regular parent consultations provide opportunities to discuss progress, concerns, and ways to support your child both inside and outside of sessions.

Counseling for teens, providing a supportive space to work through stress, relationships, confidence, and life challenges

Life can feel pretty overwhelming sometimes. Between school, friends, family, activities, and everything else going on, it is easy to feel stressed, stuck, or like no one really understands what you are dealing with. You may be trying to figure out who you are, manage changing relationships, handle pressure, or simply make sense of everything you are feeling.

Counseling is a place where you can show up exactly as you are. You do not have to have all the answers or know exactly what to say. Together, we can work through challenges, build confidence, and find healthy ways to handle whatever life throws your way.

Counseling can also be a space to better understand your emotions, learn healthy coping skills, improve communication, and feel more confident in the choices you make. Together, we can create a space where you feel heard, supported, and understood while developing tools to navigate life's ups and downs..

Young adult receiving counseling support while navigating anxiety, stress, relationships, life transitions, and personal growth

Life can feel like a lot when you are trying to figure out who you are, where you are headed, and what comes next. Whether you are starting college, building a career, navigating relationships, living on your own, or adjusting to major life changes, it is normal to feel overwhelmed at times.

Counseling provides a space where you can slow down, sort through what is on your mind, and gain a better understanding of yourself. You do not have to have everything figured out to begin, and you do not have to navigate this stage of life on your own.

Together, we can work through anxiety, stress, self-doubt, relationship challenges, life transitions, and the pressures that often come with this stage of life. Counseling can also help you develop healthy coping skills, strengthen your confidence, and better understand the patterns that may be holding you back.

My goal is to help you build confidence, develop healthy coping skills, and create a path forward that feels authentic to you.
